Smith, Hoke
(2 sep. 1855, Newton, N.C., EE.UU.–27 nov. 1931, Atlanta, Ga.).

Político estadounidense. Fue el editor del Atlanta Journal (1887–1900) y lo usó para promover medidas progresistas (excepto los derechos civiles para los afroamericanos). Ocupó el cargo de ministro del interior (1893–96). Como gobernador de Georgia (1907–09, 1911), mejoró la educación, el transporte y las condiciones de vida en las cárceles. En el Senado (1911–21), apoyó leyes progresistas, pero se opuso al ingreso de EE.UU. a la Sociedad de Naciones.
